History and context

Why this matters

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area was established in 1959 as a multiple land-use area. UNESCO lists it for natural values and later cultural criteria connected to human evolution evidence, including Olduvai Gorge and Laetoli.

Wild Wings route logic

How we use it in an itinerary

Use Ngorongoro as a wildlife day between Serengeti, Tarangire and Karatu. Explain its cultural and geological context so the crater has a place in the wider route.

Planning fit

When it belongs in the route

Best placed near the end or middle of a northern route, depending on Serengeti timing.
