10-Day Northern Circuit & Zanzibar

Drive to Tarangire National Park for a full-day game drive through baobab landscapes and river-fed plains. The park is known for elephants, but also supports lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo and varied birdlife. Enjoy a picnic lunch inside the park before continuing to Karatu and Omega View Lodge.

Travel through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area toward Serengeti National Park, with wildlife sightings possible along the way. Enter the plains for an afternoon game drive and begin looking for resident predators, elephants, giraffes, zebra and wildebeest before settling into your tented camp.

Leave Central Serengeti early and follow the wildlife corridor north toward Kogatende. In the right season, the route can bring you close to migrating herds, predators and the Mara River landscape. Your guide balances the long transfer with an en-route game drive and stops that fit the day’s sightings.

Spend the day around Kogatende, using the current position of the herds to shape the game drive. When the migration is in the area, there may be opportunities to watch river approaches and crossings from an approved, respectful viewing position; at other times the northern Serengeti still delivers excellent resident wildlife, big cats and wide-open scenery.

After breakfast and a final short game-drive window, transfer to Kogatende Airstrip for the scheduled flight to Zanzibar. Meet your island transfer team on arrival and continue to Stone Town. The afternoon is free to rest, walk the waterfront or begin exploring the historic lanes before an evening at Tembo Hotel.

Take a guided spice tour that introduces the island’s plantations, ingredients and food traditions, then continue north toward Nungwi. Check in at Maru Maru Hotel and settle into your beach stay with the afternoon at your own pace.

Keep the day open after your safari. Relax on the beach or choose an optional reef or ocean activity such as snorkelling, scuba diving, a dhow cruise or a swim, with the timing arranged around tides and your preferred pace.

Enjoy a final slow day on the north coast. Stay at the hotel, walk the shoreline, visit a local village or add another ocean activity. Keeping this day free gives the beach finish the breathing room it deserves after a week of game drives.
