After registration and a guide briefing, descend into the crater at around 8:30 AM for a morning game drive, picnic breakfast and lunch, then continue exploring different habitats before ascending and returning to Arusha in the evening.

Start early in Arusha so the day is dedicated to the crater. Drive through the highlands to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, complete entry formalities and meet your guide at the gate. Descend the steep crater walls around 8:30 AM and spend the morning exploring grasslands, woodland and lake edges, looking for lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, leopard, cheetah, hyena, wildebeest, zebra and birdlife. Enjoy a picnic breakfast at a scenic stop, pause for packed lunch from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, then continue the game drive toward Lake Magadi and the Lerai Forest before ascending at around 4:00 PM. Return to Arusha with a refreshment stop along the way.
